And Finally it Has Arrived to Our Island . . .

Are we supposed to be happy? Is it good news or it bad news? Or we were just trying to avoid the inevitable? The Coranavirus is now with us, it "is confirmed. It has been with us since Thursday but we have discovered it and made it public on Saturday. Health Minister, Dr. Chris Fearne, tried to reassure people in a press conference which was reported by the Times of Malta on Saturday that:

"We would like to reassure the public that these cases are being kept in isolation," The children did not go to school and the parents did not go to work or leave the house. Their contact with other people was minimal”. The 12-year-old girl's parents and sister are also being kept in mandatory quarantine at Mater Dei."

Is the world news saying anything about Malta being another country to be infected with the coronavirus? Of course not, we are too small for somebody to take notice of us. They have their own coronavirus to worry about and this is some of the top stories that we have from international news:

The Guardian’s main story is about the coronavirus in experts warn that time is "running out" if the country want to contain the virus. 78,000 cases of covid-19 (the new name for the Corona virus) is confirmed across the globe. “The situation will soon reach a critical threshold,” experts say. Two people have died from the virus in Italy this weekend. Milan fashion week was also affected like the carnival in Venice. Xi Jiping, the Chinese president, called on Sunday “for more efforts to stop the outbreak and prevent the disease from disrupting the spring planting of crops.”

The BBC Asia main story is about the coronavirus which is getting "out of control". Deaths has now reached 3,000 and with more and more people getting infected everyday one may wonder how to check if one has it or not. The WHO (World Health Organisation is continuously during research on COVID-19 on a daily basis. Major sporting events like the opening round of the MOTGP in Qatar this coming weekend have been cancelled because of travel restrictions imposed due to the virus. Until now the opening round from the Australian Grand Prix is still going as scheduled on March 15.

The Times of India main story is about the coronavirus in India. "Two patients tested positive." The person from Delhi came from Italy and the other from Telangana came from Dubai. Both patients are being monitored closely and continuously. The Union health minister said that: “travel restrictions may be further extended to other countries,” India so far had no patients with corona virus detected even if the india geographically is closer to China than Europe. India is making a lot of effort to keep the virus at bay and controlled.

The main story in the New York Times is about the "second death" of the coronavirus which occurred in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday evening at the Evergreen hospital in Kirkland. Officials are concerned that the virus is spreading in U.S. undetected and has been spreading for weeks. Six  coronavirus cases have been confirmed with others reported illnesses also and this has raised a cause for concern with Kirkland, Washington put in focus. The states of New York, Florida and Rhode Island have each reported their first cases of the virus which are linked with foreign travel. Globally the number of cases has risen to 89,000.

The Times of London main story about Boris Johnson who pledges that the government “will stop at nothing” to fight the virus and find a cure. Boris Johnson is expected to chair an emergency meeting of emergency Cobra committee that will sign a plan to tackle the coronavirus. The confirmed infections has risen from 23 to 36 in one day. This could have a ripple effect on workers who would be told to work from home, schools that close and sporting events to be cancelled. This is the situation that there is in Italy.
