Is the Coronavirus making the Maltese people crazier than ever?

To answer this question we have to through a series of news and examples of what is happening in Malta throughout this lockdown.

A man has been "jailed for two years" because he slammed a little dog with a bedside table and killed him. Why? Maybe he was fed up from his barking but we are people who talk and dogs, bark. This is in their nature. There is nothing wrong with that. I think he should be locked up in a mental hospital and not only in prison for this.

Only God knows what Moira Delia, our dog-friendly TV presenter, is going to say about this in her weekly show on National Television called Animal Diaries. Maybe she will forgive him? (But I don't think so).

There was one Maltese who was "posting death threats" through a fake Facebook profile account. Hagan Azzopardi a 26 year old guy. I think he is out of his mind and fed of this lock down? The article does not say why he posted the deaths to victim Josef Borg.

On another note we have an issue with the face masks which came into force in every retail shop as of May 3. People do not which ones to buy, which ones are the cheapest and strongest to use. MCCAA publishes the list of masks that do not protect you from the coronavirus. They have put also pictures on which masks do not protect you and said that:

"These 3M are counterfeit. This product bears a CE marking but is not certified as protective equipment by the relevant body. The product may not fulfil the health and safety requirements and properly protect when combined with additional measures. The product does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation."

The coronavirus has now been with us for two months and we have been in locked for more than one and a half months. People are doing "street parties" everywhere around Malta. It is like the eggs are hatching because first it started in Fgura, then Santa Venera, then Marsascala and it kept rumbling on until it reached each locality around Malta. This gave rise to even "young stars" are making their debut by singing in the street in front of packed balconies. This is like having X Factor Malta all over again and with the cancellation of Eurovision it has lost a little bit of its popularity.

But this is not lockdown at all. Are people suppose to have fun when hundreds of people are dying everyday? Perhaps not in Malta but if we take our neighbour Italy it has recorded 179 deaths in a single day on May 11. Should Maltese people have some respect for neighbouring families who are losing their loved ones every single day.

Imagine if we had to do a minute silence for each victim that dies from Coronavirus across the global. May 11, has seen a total deaths of 3403. This represents 3403 minutes which adds a total of 56 hours of total silence in honour of each person that died. We do not have that kind of luxury in a day as our day only adds up to a total of 24 hours.

So yes the Maltese people are crazier. There are being selfish, inconsiderate and last but not least stupid. This is not a time of celebration. This is a time of silence and reflection and in order to reflect there is the daily mass live on the internet. If you have children that cannot stick at home, go out and do something quite alone as a family not doing discos lasting for hours.
